Stoke St Michael Parish Council recommended approval although there were inconsistencies within the application. The application form states that the building will be clad in timber whereas the drawings state render, stone and brick for the finish.
Mendip District Council granted the application with conditions

2021/1826/FUL Proposed stable block / change of use from agricultural to agricultural and equestrian – Barn Farm, Tadhill Lane, Stoke St Michael
Stoke St Michael Parish Council recommend REFUSAL due to the following reasons:
1) Application plans are inconsistent. The site location and block plan show the access drive as
included in the application, the aerial photo does not.
2) There is no mention of whether there is a base for the stable block, what size that will be, what
materials are involved and how rainwater drainage will be dealt with
3) There is mention in the conclusion of the Design, Access and Energy Statement of a menage,
however there is no indication on the plans of the size or construction of a menage or where the
proposed menage will be sited.
Following revision of the Design and Access Statement Stoke St Michael Parish Council recommends that the decision is left to the Planning Officer due to previous issues with applications on this site. The Parish Council would like the planning officer to look at it closely to ensure the discrepancy with the map and site plan is material.
