Stoke St Michael Nursery & Primary School

The delightful small village Nursery & Primary School are set in spacious grounds and benefit from modern buildings excellent facilities and teachers. There is a wonderful woodland and wildlife area, onsite chickens, a gardening area where the children grow their own crops, interesting playgrounds, a spacious and idyllic playing field with a wooden gazebo as well as a sensory garden and outdoor classrooms.


Bluebells Early Years Unit is in the school grounds. It has a large garden and fantastic outdoor learning area, as well as access to the sensory garden, the playing field and rest of the school. Bluebells caters for children between the ages of 2-5 years old in a teacher led suite of classrooms and is a specialist early years learning facility for Pre-School and Reception aged children. 


There are four classes altogether. Bluebells Class for pre-school and Reception; Acorns Class for Years One and Two; Oaks Class for Years 3 and 4 and Owls Class for Years 5 and 6. Each class has dedicated teacher and teaching assistants. There is a very pro-active PTA and the school has strong links with the local community.

St Michael and All Angels Church – is the parish church, part of the benefice which includes Leigh Upon Mendip and Downhead.

The church is open for private prayer from 9am to 4pm every day.

Anyone is welcome to find a quiet place here.

  • Second Sunday: – HOLY COMMUNION, 9.30am
  • Third Sunday: – FAMILY COMMUNION, 11am

Stoke St Michael War Memorial Hall – Stoke St Michael War Memorial Hall: The hall has a well equipped kitchen, licensed bar, outdoor seating and social area which is all fully accessible for the disabled.

Located in the center of the village, the versatile facilities at Stoke St Michael can be hired by contacting the booking clerk on 07710509786 or emailing stokestmichaelhall@gmail.com

Bingo takes place every other Monday night, social, coffee afternoons are held on Tuesdays from 2pm – 4pm where residents gather to have a chat and complete crafty tasks asked for by the village.
